I purchased my GT back in June and I’m about to hit 7k miles (6,908 miles to be exact). I was wondering what oil to use and if anyone has links for the filters. I see some say 0W-30 while others mention 0W-30. Thanks, everyone!
You should use 0W-30 synthetic oil. It should be listed in the manual.
I’d recommend changing it every 5k miles regardless. Not many brands produce 0W-30 that meet the necessary specifications. Mobile 1 0W-30 AFE is a common choice. For filters, Napa Gold is a good option as well.
@Jin
Oh, okay! I’ll look those up when I get off work!
I use OEM filters from the dealer to maintain documentation for warranty purposes. I buy 0W-30 Mobile One Advanced Fuel Economy from Walmart for about $27.99 per jug. A total oil change costs around $50, and I change it every 5k miles, with the first change around 750 miles to eliminate any metal shavings.
@Teegan
Perfect! I’ll do mine tomorrow!!
K&N oil filters are great.

Definitely looking for those now!
I highly recommend skimming through the manual. There are so many features in the car and a lot of important information in there that you wouldn’t know without it.
The most consistent place I find 0W-30 is AutoZone. They have Mobil 1 ESP, which takes a good amount of oil. I change it every 5k and get my filter from Amazon via ECOGARD. After 31k miles and 7 oil changes, my car runs great! Link to Amazon Filter Link to AutoZone Oil
@Eli
Thanks for the info and links! This makes it much easier! There’s an AutoZone just two blocks away, which is even better! Lol
You might want to consider changing it every 5k if you fall into the ‘severe’ category according to the manual.

Severe? Nah, the car is brand new, lol.

Just saying, you should read how they categorize ‘severe’ in the manual. It’s basically normal driving in many cases.
@Noor
Ah, okay! Gotcha! Sorry about that.
You should consider having the dealer perform your oil changes to keep documentation for your powertrain warranty.

I’ll 100% never have a dealer do an oil change, lol. My brother works at Range Rover and Porsche and confirms they often use recycled oil or do nothing but change the filter.
@Sky
If you believe that what your brother says about a luxury dealer is enough to jeopardize your Kia’s powertrain warranty, then you do you.
