I’m about 5200 miles deep on my 2024 K5; when does the K5 need a change? I drive it like I stole it and just feel like 5k without a change is a lot. What’s the average or recommended interval?
The car should let you know. Check the window service sticker as well.

I peeled off the sticker; I didn’t know what it was. It’s my first car.

In the convenience settings, I believe it should tell you what the service interval is. I think the first change is right around the 5k mark, and the first one is free, so you might as well take it in.
I’d change it if it was purchased brand new and hasn’t been done yet.

Dealerships must love you. You can hold off on an oil change every 7500 miles, 10,000 if it’s synthetic. Just think of all the money you could have saved over the years.
@Van
My car’s engine loves me too.
@Van
Good luck with your 10k OCI.

Thanks, I have a 2013 Optima. Oil changed every 7500 miles, moved to synthetic oil at 100,000 miles, and I change it every 10,000 miles now. I’m at 199,078 miles and haven’t had a single issue. Still on the original engine too.
@Van
That’s good! I personally wouldn’t do it, but you do you.

Why waste money and give it to Kia so often? You’re silly.

Who the heck goes to the dealer?

Yeah, I’ve only had it for 3 months. Bought it with like 30 miles; might just have to do this, Justin.

7500 is the target for the first oil change/service.
Thank you.

I’d NEVER change the oil at 7500 for the first OCI. The most wear on an engine is during break-in. I did mine at 1000 miles for the first OCI.
Check your manual for this information. Should be every 5k.

Depends on the oil type. Full synthetic oil lasts longer than 5k.

Nope, the manufacturer’s manual says full synthetic every 5k. Always go off the manual.
@Rex
I don’t understand why people think they know better than the engineers that built the engines. Always go off the manual unless you’re using the car in a way that was not intended.

Obviously, they’re the experts.
