The first oil change is often free. You should ask if it’s free for you.

That sounds good, but what should I choose next time?

The $59.95 service should use synthetic blend oil. That is enough for the 7,000-mile interval. I wouldn’t use conventional oil. You can check what your warranty says in your owner’s manual. The full synthetic oil change is the best option, but will it make a big difference? Who knows
@Paxton
So should I just go for the $59.95 service? Does that include synthetic oil?

I think all Kia dealerships use synthetic blend oil for their basic $59 oil change service. That is semi-synthetic. Just check to be sure. That is all you need if you keep up with your oil changes.
@Paxton
I think Kia only uses full synthetic these days. That is what my dealer told me.

Really? I will check about that next time. But why is the full synthetic service more expensive?
@Paxton
Well, there is no clear definition for synthetic blend, so they can just add a bit of synthetic to conventional and call it a blend. Full synthetic is more costly because you get 100% synthetic oil. I see no point in using conventional or blend unless you do not care about your car.
@Toryn
I understand. If I were changing my oil at home, I would choose full synthetic. However, for my K5, as long as the regular service meets my warranty, I will go for that and skip the higher cost of full synthetic. If I have, say, 60k miles on the engine, then maybe I would switch to full synthetic, but by then I would likely be thinking about my next Kia.
@Paxton
It is great that a K5 uses 0W20.

What is lucky about that?

There is no conventional 0W20. It’s only available as synthetic or blend.
@Haven
Got it
I thought maintenance was free for 2 years, including oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections. Maybe that’s just what I learned at the dealer?
I am glad for that, especially since I bought my car used with 9k on it. 2019 Forte S. My ex-wife has the same deal on her K5.
