Please help! Kia Access versus Kia Digital Key

I just received my new GT, and I’m having difficulties figuring out the subscriptions and whatnot.

If I’m willing to pay for Access, what exactly are the advantages of the Digital Key?

To utilize this, I’d have to downgrade my phone, something I’m not too excited about.

If someone could provide some light on this, I would be grateful!

Digital key should be locked behind the Ultimate tier of Kia access(20$ monthly). Essentially allows you to set up your phone as your key fob and don’t need to carry keys all the time to drive the car.

You should get 1 year Kia access free upon buying a new car to mess with its features. It’s handy but it’s not worth the price or getting a new phone for it imo.

I got 3 years free, which is cool, but yeah, I’m paranoid enough to always want to carry a physical key with me, so the digital key doesn’t really make sense. The Access app is kinda cool though, so I might keep using that, but I’m not buying a crappy Apple or Samsung phone! I appreciate your reply!

The digital key you literally can start and drive off with your car without the factory key Kia access gives you an option to start your car with the app but you can’t pull off without the key

Thanks for the info! I’m old, so I can’t really envision a situation where I wouldn’t have my physical key on me.

I only use my phone now to unlock and start my car. Never had an issue and it’s one less thing I carry. It came free for 3 years with my 25 k5 gt. If I keep the car I may even renew. Other features within the app are convenient as well. It’s not necessary though.

The dealer should have helped you set this up before you left. At least that was done for me. I transferred the digital key to my watch and that works as well.

Thanks! I would have to downgrade my phone in order to use this feature, plus pay $20/mo. after the 3 years, and I would still have to carry other keys, so I just don’t see it making sense for me.

I’m referencing the Digital Key here. Access might be worth it on one of the lesser plans.
