Kia K5 owners what do you think about the car so far

@Perrin
Just got a new Kia K5 on Monday, and the first thing I noticed is that for changing songs, the button on the steering wheel is down, and it bugs me so much

FWD GT-Line with panoramic sunroof here

It feels surprisingly spacious, gets great gas mileage, and has smooth handling on the freeway. The tech features are really impressive, and it looks aggressive. Plus, the radio is directed towards the driver. Kia did a lot of things right with the K5.
I’ll be keeping winter tires handy when I want to have fun in the snow.

Not a single complaint. I traded my 2017 Tacoma for it.

Amazing value, and the warranty is great

@Ellis
I’m really glad to hear this, thank you for sharing!

How does your car perform on snowy roads with front-wheel drive? I’ve heard all models are good in the snow, but the AWD is a bit better.

@Ellis
Could you tell me more about the value and warranty?

@Ellis
How does your opinion hold up now? I’m looking at cars and want to look beyond the Camry and Accord.

I’ve had a K5 GT-Line for almost 4 months. No issues and I absolutely love it. It has great features, the exterior is stylish but not too flashy. For the price, it’s nearly perfect.

That seems to be the general opinion haha. I’m happy to see I’m not crazy for liking this car. My dad doesn’t quite understand why I prefer a sedan over something like the Sorento, but K5 is just that good in my view.

How is your K5 doing?

I have the GT-Line. I’ve practically lived in it with 15,000 miles in about 3 months.

It came with wireless Apple CarPlay, which I’ve been struggling with. I heard from other users that an update is coming to fix this issue. A service bulletin was recently posted in this forum by a helpful person, but my dealer hasn’t received the update yet.

Aside from that, I really love the car. It’s incredibly comfortable and handles well in rain and snow.

Someone mentioned hesitation when starting from a complete stop. That’s true. I prefer driving in Sport Mode, which fixes that issue. When I’m not in Sport, I just apply gas quickly and then ease off the pedal. You learn how to work around it naturally.

I know I might get used to it eventually, but I’m still very much in love with it. I get a lot of compliments, which definitely feels good :slight_smile:

Listen to your heart. If you like it, have driven it, and it fits your budget, go for it! You won’t regret it, and you’ll find opinions everywhere.
Enjoy.

I think I’m set on it haha. I just wanted to hear the “things to know before you buy a K5” list from actual owners instead of just a bunch of reviewers! Thanks for the encouragement :slight_smile:

You’re going to love this car.

I’ve had mine for a month now, in sapphire blue, GT-Line with all options, and it’s incredibly spacious with a super smooth ride. The car sounds great when you accelerate, and it’s very solid for daily use. Plus, all the convenience and safety features are awesome.

Test drive it and you’ll fall in love with it like we all have.

Please share pictures when you get it!

@Oakley
I’m considering either Yacht Blue (that’s its name in the UAE, but I think it’s essentially sapphire blue) or maybe black or white for the exterior. I definitely want the red GT-Line interior because it’s just so appealing!

Thanks for your input! I’ll likely post an update to this thread in a few months haha. Buying the K5 will probably happen in a month or two.

I have a GT-Line with FWD. I got mine in December and I truly love this car. The technology is fantastic and there is plenty of room inside. The acceleration lag is real, but as mentioned before, Sport Mode solves that issue.
I appreciate that the fuel door locks and unlocks with the vehicle, and I get compliments every time I go out.
I haven’t found any complaints with the car thus far. I don’t regret my decision even though all my friends have high-powered cars like scat packs and Camaros lol. The warranty is also impressive.
MPG is excellent when I’m not driving aggressively.
(I’m 20, so it’s tough)

Do you still have the K5? Any problems? Do you still like it? Your post is a year old, seeking updates!

I’ve had my GT-Line since July, and I seriously love the car. It’s got great features, fun to drive, and excellent gas mileage (which is great because I had an Infiniti G37 before, and that was terrible). The gloss black areas show fingerprints, so if you’re sensitive to that, just a heads up. I’ve noticed a bit of hesitation when you slam on the gas at times, especially on the highway.

@Rin
About the gloss black, I think all the cars my family has had have had some gloss black, so I’m pretty used to it.
I saw another comment mentioning a second delay in acceleration too! I’ll be sure to check that during my test drive soon. Thanks so much for your input!

I bought one very recently. I’m really enjoying it so far. The ride is smooth, the tech is great, and the exterior looks super cool. Nothing I dislike so far.
