I'm getting my 2023 K5 GT-Line delivered; does anyone have any speaker upgrade recommendations?

Really only the title; I’ve read that the speaker system isn’t great, and I know nothing about speakers. Coming from a 2014 BMW 428i with Hardon Kardon speakers, I’d like to replicate the quality if feasible.

I have a 24 K5 GT-Line

For my door speakers I went with Pioneer TS-A653FH’s (about $220 for 4).

I also installed an aftermarket sub (Pioneer TS-WX1010A (about $300).

Overall it sounds amazing, would definitely recommend upgrading.

I wouldn’t drive a K5 GTL after having a 428i. I have a K5 GT and it’s a big maybe if I would drive a GT over a 428i.

Upgrading the sound system isn’t as simple as changing the speakers out. Putting in new speakers might give a small bump, but you need a subwoofer and amp to get a real sound boost with bass. You will likely need to get a whole new system installed from a shop professionally to match the system in your BMW. It typically costs $2500+ to do so

I second this. You would need something like JL’s fix86 to receive all the speaker signals from the factory amp which outputs a flat signal. Then run it to a tuner like JL’s Twk88. Then output to an amp of your choice. Using the tuner, you can adjust what frequencies go where. This also requires you to set you radio at about 75% max volume and leaving it there. You adjust volume using the tuner with a separate knob. It’s a lot of work but would be the correct way for quality sound.

Factory car amps mess with the frequencies as you raise and lower the volume. They tune it to the factory speakers. You wouldn’t want to just throw in different speakers. It would not be optimal.
