What do you think about the KIA K5 2024?

Is it worth the price?

*Side question: I make around 10-15k a month, and this car is on my list. Would this be a good investment or are there better options?

This car looks great. I just wish they had the GT model here too.

Don’t they? Last time I checked, the GT was available for 130k. Or was that just the GT trim? I think there were some differences inside too.

@Dylan
I contacted KIA 3-4 months ago and they said they only offer the GT-Line here. The GT has more features and a 2.4 or 2.5 turbocharged engine.

Ah, yeah. I don’t know why dealers here only bring in the GT line instead of the full GT. It’s the same with Mazda and Hyundai.

As an owner, here are a few things to think about before making the decision:

  1. It gets a lot of attention wherever I go. I’ve had people from regular folks to guys in expensive Range Rovers ask about it.

  2. Fuel economy is great. I can get 750km on a tank for just 150 bucks, even with traffic.

  3. I’ve had very few issues in the 50k miles I’ve driven.

  4. Parts are cheap, and there’s a lot of aftermarket support if you need anything.

  5. There are two engine options. Please, for the love of all that’s good, get the more powerful engine! The 150hp version is as fast as a Yaris.

  6. Go for the higher spec models. A fully loaded version is as well equipped as many German cars that cost 4-5 times more.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely, as long as you pick the right options.

@Cody
Hey, can you give an update on how your experience with the car is so far? I’m reserving a K5 GT 2024 and would love to know what to avoid, what to do during the process, and anything you’d suggest after getting the car?

@Drew
Hey!

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, the main thing is to get the 180hp version. Avoid the really basic models as they’re not equipped well. Still a good car, but I wouldn’t go for it.

Just enjoy the car. It’s great on fuel economy and super comfortable for long trips. I went to Liwa once and had plenty of fuel for the return trip. The service package is good, but I wouldn’t push you to get it since parts and labor aren’t expensive.

Also, the tire pressure needs to be filled to 40 PSI for a minute or so before adjusting it to the right level. That’s how the sensor works, otherwise, you’ll get a warning.

Edit: They’ve launched a redesign for 2025. If you’re okay waiting, you might want to consider that.

@Cody

@Drew
Don’t let what others say get to you. If you like the car and are okay with the price, go for it. The fully loaded version is as equipped as a high-end German car and those are super expensive. The materials might be a bit better in the German cars, but overall, the product is similar.

My only suggestion would be to wait for the facelift, but that’s just me.

Mazda for life

What’s the price? Seems expensive for your salary. I wouldn’t do it.

For the 2023 models, the base trim was 84k (2.0L engine) and the full trim was 134k (2.5L engine).

I liked the car, but I didn’t have the budget when buying my car. Also, I think they had a 6-month lead time when I checked.

@Adi
I found a brand new one in my town for 29k… makes me nervous it’s so much cheaper than your prices.

29k USD? I was quoting 84-134k AED.

I found some 2023 and older ones for 65k or less.

65k for a 2023 model? Those are probably flood-damaged or insurance write-offs.

@Abi
My bad, I meant 2021 models.
