Out of nowhere, my radio just quit working. I recorded a video to show the issue. When I tap the radio side button, nothing happens. The screen goes in and then glitches out. I really don’t want to go to the dealer and pay a lot for something that seems like it could be an easy fix. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
This happened to me with the same problem about 6 months ago. I called the dealership and they told me to do an update. Get a flash drive and go to Navigation Updater | Official Kia Navigation Update Website and just follow the instructions. It was really easy and ran automatically when I plugged it in. The process took about 40 minutes, but I haven’t had any issues since then.
Edit: And it’s free
@Clove
Where do I plug in the flash drive? I’m new to this and trying to gather all the information.

You need to plug it into the USB port you would use for Android Auto or CarPlay.

Got it, thanks!

I experienced this about 6 months ago too. I took my car to the dealership and they did the update for me. It took over an hour, but everything worked fine afterward.
I think it could be what others mentioned about the navigation download.
But you might also want to look for a tiny reset button under the start button.
If you hold that in for 5 seconds, it should reset. Just keep in mind that it resets all your saved settings like stations and navigation, which can be annoying. It might not even fix the issue.
@Parker
Is there a simple way to restart it? My old Chevy truck had a method where I held the power button and the previous track button for a few seconds to restart.

Not that I know of. The dealership guy showed me the reset button when I bought the car.
But there should really be a restart option.
@Parker
The reset button doesn’t wipe everything. I’ve pressed it several times over the years and it just reboots the system like turning the car off and back on.

Got it. I trusted what the dealership said. Luckily, I haven’t needed to use it yet.
@Parker
It’s helpful if something freezes up while you’re driving. It just does a reboot.
This happened to mine a few weeks after I downloaded an update. The dealer found a broken touchscreen/audio unit and replaced the whole unit under warranty.

So you updated it and then still had the problem, and then went to the dealer?
@Blaine
Not exactly. I had no problems immediately after the update. Then weeks later, the radio functions stopped working. They had to replace it.

Did it take a long time for the new unit to arrive?
@Ren
About a week or so.
Just to add about the USB, I had to reformat my flash drive first for the download to work. I let it update while my car was parked at home.
It shouldn’t cost you anything at the dealer. This should be covered under warranty.
I’m having the same issue, so I’m following this thread.
