I’ve had my EV9 for about a month now. Every time I try to use the built-in navigation, it loads for around 3-4 minutes and then says it can’t find the route and to try again. But when I try again, it doesn’t work. It just keeps loading and failing.
The only way I’ve been able to get it to work (and it’s not always reliable) is to enter the destination, exit the navigation, go into Android Auto, and start Google Maps navigation. After about 5 minutes, I get a notice that connected routing isn’t available and that on-board routing will be used.
I’ve visited the dealer, and they said they would contact Kia for help, but they don’t know what else to do. It’s been two weeks since I first contacted the dealer and a week since I took it in for service where they said everything looked fine.
Is anyone else having this issue I’d like to use the built-in navigation since it includes charging options, but I haven’t found a quicker way to access it. Any tips would be appreciated
Do your voice commands work I’m going to the dealership for the second time soon to have them troubleshoot a similar problem. Voice commands give me a ‘sorry, that feature is temporarily unavailable’ message most of the time. The same thing happens with online routing in Kia maps. Even though I seem to have full Kia Connect bars, it’s like I’m not truly connected.

They don’t work at all. Voice commands are not responding for anything. We mentioned that to the dealer, but they didn’t have any answers for that either.

It sounds like the modem or antenna might be faulty, so I only get a weak connection sometimes, even with the bars showing. This could explain why my app connection to the car seems unreliable too. I’m comparing it to the Tesla app, which shows real-time updates, like the doors and trunk opening and closing.
Keep me updated here if they figure it out, and I’ll do the same.

We’re having issues with the app as well. I’ll let you know if we find a solution!
I was at the dealership today checking on this. The service advisor told me before my car was checked in that this is a known issue and not specific to my car. She said they had a few like it recently, and it’s a server issue. This puzzles me because it doesn’t seem to be a widespread problem. They took my car to fix a rattle, but there was no change in the reliability of my voice commands and map routing. Apparently, another case has been opened with Kia.
@Branley
That is strange because we are still waiting for our dealership to get back to us with a solution from Kia. So it’s supposedly a server issue, but only for a few cars according to what they say - which doesn’t make sense.
This isn’t a real solution, but I didn’t like the built-in navigation system, so I use Android Auto and Flo instead. You can use a different app for EV charging stations.
Well, a few weeks ago everything started working. I don’t use the built-in voice commands or map routing much since I prefer Android Auto, but every time I’ve tried it in the last month, it has worked. The app seems to connect more often too.
Maybe it really was a network issue in Canada like the dealership told me.
@Branley
We had the same luck! It just randomly started working. At the time, I thought, ‘I need to update this forum,’ but then I forgot. But yes, it seems to be working fine now.
Our dealership never gave an explanation, but I’m happy as long as it keeps working lol!
