Complaints About 2025 K5 Infotainment System

I have a lot of complaints about the new infotainment displays in my new K5. There are so many redundant screens, and I don’t think I should have to go three levels deep to see the song title. It keeps showing me the album cover everywhere, which is pointless. My clock greys out when I click on the radio display, and the split screen options often duplicate apps—like having the map on one side and the compass on the other. I also can’t view media while on the map.

Just venting, I guess. Is anyone else experiencing these issues with their 2025 K5? Do they ever release OTA updates to improve it? Am I just screaming into the wind?

Direct sunlight makes the touch buttons on the AC/radio panel disappear.

I think the AC panel should have pushable buttons. Sensor buttons require more focus, which leads to distraction. Pushable buttons let you touch and feel it, making it safer to use.

@Sawyer
Interestingly, the 21 and 22 models had pushable buttons.

Apple CarPlay solves a lot of these issues.

Not for me, I’m an Android user and I like to listen to FM/AM and browse through my favorites.

Well, sorry, but you’re kinda stuck then.

How do I even access the radio on this thing? I can’t seem to find the FM or Sirius/XM player. I don’t want to use my phone for that.

I’ve never been a fan of the new infotainment either. So many options seem like duplicates from previous screens. I miss the old volume control, as it’s distracting to look at the screen while driving.

@Lin
Isn’t there a volume control on the steering wheel?

Yeah, but it’s not fast enough, to be honest.

The driver-side AC knob can also function as a volume control.

@Jory
I know, but it’s simply more convenient to have volume control separate from the air controls.

I love using Apple CarPlay, but I hate the lack of a play/pause button on the steering wheel. Why just have a mute option?

I play music via USB, so muting pauses it for me, which I like. If CarPlay doesn’t pause, it’s probably just an Apple limitation.

Definitely an Apple thing. When using Bluetooth without Android Auto, it pauses the music.

I just wish I could lower the blinker volume. It’s so loud!

Someone tried to sell me the new model when I went for new tires. I told him they really messed up the redesign. Some nice tweaks, but the screen is terrible. I barely use the 8-inch screen in my 2023 K5. Adding more screens sounds awful. Plus, the glossy black exterior is ugly. I love the rear lights but the side view looks half-done, and I’m mixed about the headlights—it’s almost like they were told to add more lines.

Wanting Bentley quality and features in a Kia is funny. I’ve had a 2021 GT-Line since October 2020 with no significant problems, save for the fuel door actuator.

I had a 2021 GT and now I have a 2025 GT. Both are fantastic vehicles! Love the tech in my 2025. Like anything new, it just takes some getting used to.
