Hi guys, any info on this
Your car uses 0w-30. I use Mobil in my K5 GT, and my local Walmart carries it. For oil filters, I stick to OEM. It comes with the filter, washer, and gasket
Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy Full Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-30, 5 qt Robot or human?
@Sloane
Thanks man! Are you sure it’s 0W-30? I’ve heard different things from various sources. I’ve seen mentions of 0W-20 too.

The 2.5 engine requires 0w-30. It’s labeled on the engine oil cap. The GT-Line, EX, and LXS models have the 1.6 engine and use 0w-20.
@Sloane
Wow, I hadn’t thought to check that, but I looked in the owner’s manual, haha. I’m about to reach 3k miles and want to be proactive with my first oil change. What brand of 0W-30 do you use? I’ve always gone with Mobil Advanced Synthetic 10k mile for my vehicles.
@Zayden
I use Mobil 1 0w-30. Advanced Fuel Economy. I’ve also had my oil changed at the dealer when I didn’t have time to do it myself, and they used the same oil.

Awesome, thanks again.
@Zayden
No problem.
I’d do my own oil too, but I’m worried about voiding my warranty if I don’t have service records. Just having receipts for oil and filter might not be enough. The OE oil filter for the 2.5 is 26350-2S000.
@Avery
Wait, you can void your warranty by doing your own oil and filter changes? This is for the 36k mile warranty, right? Not the powertrain warranty? My dealership extended mine to 200k.

Check with your dealer, but if something goes wrong with your powertrain, Kia will likely ask for proof of proper maintenance before they handle repairs. They might accept service receipts from non-Kia places, but just having oil and filter receipts probably won’t prove the service was done at the right times.
@Avery
I’ve always thought receipts were enough, but I admit I don’t have proof. I’ve heard that if you have the receipts, they’ll assume you did the replacements since you bought them. Still, I’ve heard too many stories of shops forgetting to put in new oil and wrecking engines. I’m definitely not risking that.

Not for the GT, that one requires 0w-30
I always go for OEM oil filters. They’re usually cheaper than aftermarket options like NAPA or O’Reilly’s.

Do you know what the OEM filter numbers are or any good aftermarket equivalents? I usually prefer Mobil.
@Zayden
I’m not sure what the OEM filter number is, but I know NAPA has good filters. The NAPA Gold 100514 filter is $20.99 and says it’s for the 2.5 motor.
